Burglar caught inside home

Caddo deputies arrested a man after a woman returned home and found him hiding in her closet with a knife. Tobias Eldridge Ward was later charged with multiple offenses, including stalking, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Deputies Doug Smith and Jeremy Bergren were called to the 1200 block of Dutton Road around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday after the woman arrived home and found Ward in her bedroom closet. Ward fled from the residence after the woman called 911, but he didn't get far. Deputies enroute to the call apprehended him nearby. A knife taken from the woman's home was found in his possession.

Ward, who is known to the woman and once stayed at her house, has refused to stay away from her or her residence. He was last arrested on April 15 for unauthorized entry into her residence. He has also made unsolicited telephone calls to her home and work place.

Ward, 29, was transported to the Caddo Parish Correctional Center where he was booked into jail for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, stalking, and entering and remaining. No bond has been set on Ward's charges.
