CPSO captain receives FBI award

Captain Darwin Jones of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office was honored recently by the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) with its prestigious Leadership Trilogy Award.

The award is given to law enforcement officers who have successfully completed LEEDA’s Command Institute, Supervisor Leadership Institute, and the Executive Survival: Policing in the 21st Century training courses.

Jones is one of only two law enforcement officers in Louisiana to ever receive the award, according to LEEDA administrators. Twenty-three officers nationwide received the award this year. The recipients were announced at the LEEDA conference in San Antonio in May.

Jones is a 21-year veteran of the Caddo Sheriff’s Office and serves as commander of the Judicial Services Division. He has also served on the sheriff’s Special Response Team (SRT-SWAT) since 1994 and currently serves as its commander. He has extended experience in patrol, investigations, special operations, and narcotics.

Jones also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and has a master’s degree in Administration of Justice and Security.
