Agencies plan free booster seat distribution

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Shreveport Police Department and other agencies will conduct a child seat check-up and free booster seat distribution from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 16, at Shreveport Fire Station #13, 5915 W 70th Street. The event is in association with the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force and the LSUHSC Children’s Hospital/Kohl's "CARKEYS" program.

The boosters will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To receive a booster seat, the child must be present, weigh between 40 and 100 pounds, be under 57 inches tall, and have an available seating position in the vehicle that has a lap/shoulder belt restraint system.

The next planned event will be during National Child Passenger Safety Week on September 22, so officials say don’t delay having your seat checked or getting a booster for your child … a crash can occur at any time.
