CSO investigates injury accident on North Market

A Mooringsport teenager was hospitalized this morning after driving his truck into oncoming traffic and being struck by an 18 wheeler, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
The 16-year-old boy was traveling northbound in the 5500 block of North Market around 6:24 a.m. when he ran off the road into a ditch. When he came back onto the road, he lost control and drove into oncoming southbound traffic where his vehicle was his hit by the 18 wheeler.
The teen was taken by ambulance to LSUHSC with serious injuries.
The Caddo Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Materials Unit and Traffic Safety Unit responded to investigate the crash. The LA Department of Transportation arrived to remove fuel from the roadway that had leaked from the 18 wheeler. Fire District #1 also responded to the crash.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Gray said all southbound lanes are closed while the accident isinvestigated and cleaned up.
