Caddo Parish deputies have cited the driver involved in a single vehicle crash that killed a young girl near Ida this past weekend.

Elaine Knox, 59, of Shreveport, was issued tickets for three child seat violations and operating an unsafe vehicle.

Sgt. Mike Gray, of the Caddo Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit, said three of Knox’s passengers were children, ages 3, 4, and 5. There were four child safety seats in her vehicle but none was installed or belted properly. The rear tires on the vehicle were also bald.

Knox was driving a 2000 Ford Expedition southbound on LA Hwy. 71 when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.The five-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.All other occupants, including the two other juveniles, were transported to LSUHSC with minor to serious injuries.
