Caddo detective files kidnapping charge against Shreveporter

A Shreveport man now faces kidnapping charges in addition to charges for shooting his girlfriend in the leg.

Caddo Sheriff's Detective Terry Richardson filed the second-degree kidnapping charge today against Mark Anthony Wiggins, 30, of the 3300 block of Redstone. Wiggins was already in the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of aggravated second-degree battery for shooting his girlfriend on March 6. He also faces charges of robbery and illegal possession of stolen things filed against him by Shreveport Police.

Richardson said Wiggins and his girlfriend were arguing in a parked vehicle on South Lakeshore Drive near Hwy 169 on March 6 when Wiggins produced a handgun and shot his girlfriend in the thigh. She passed out, and Wiggins drove her to Grand Prairie, Texas, without her consent, where he abandoned her and the vehicle at a Grand Prairie hospital.

Wiggins returned to Shreveport, and Caddo detectives prepared a warrant for his arrest. In April, Wiggins was involved in a Shreveport robbery and was arrested by Shreveport Police. He was also arrested at that time on the Caddo warrant for the shooting.
