Caddo Sheriff’s lieutenant receives national certification in homeland protection

Caddo Sheriff’s Lt. John Fourcade was recently designated as a Certified Homeland Protection Professional by the National Sheriff’s Association and National Domestic Preparedness Coalition. He is the first law enforcement officer in Louisiana to achieve the designation.

The certification process included an extensive review of Lt. Fourcade’s education and experience in emergency management.

Persons who are certified as CHPPs are trained in prevention, preparedness, protection, response and recovery from all hazards, including terrorism.  They demonstrate knowledge and skills in Homeland Protection and must complete a rigorous qualification and testing program to become certified.

Fourcade is a 28-year veteran of the Caddo Sheriff’s Office and serves as the department’s executive officer in the Patrol Division.

"Lt. Fourcade has been placed among a distinguished group of our country’s homeland protection professionals,” said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator. “Caddo Parish is fortunate to have his experience should the need arise.”
