Georgia gambler faces more local theft charges

A Georgia man with an extensive history of fraud and gambling is facing more trouble in Caddo Parish, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

William Franklin Hill, 49, of Atlanta, GA, was picked up in Las Vegas and returned to Caddo Parish on Friday where he was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for theft. In that case, Hill is accused of using a check fraud scheme to purchase $37,490 in gold from Louisiana Gold and Jewelry and then selling the gold for cash to gamble at local casinos.

On Tuesday, Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Yomeka Evans placed more theft charges on Hill.  Between August 15 and September 12, 2012, Hill negotiated two personal checks at the Eldorado Casino for a total of $10,000. He later stopped payment on the checks causing the casino to be at a lost, Evans said. Williams used the money to gamble at the casino.

Hill’s bond was set at $100,287.50 on the first theft charge and $25,287.50 on the second. He is also wanted by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada.
