The Caddo Sheriff's Youth Firearms Education Camp will be held at the Sheriff's Regional Training Academy. Boys and girls ages 10-13 may select any day (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) during the week to join Caddo deputies on the firing range for supervised firearms safety education and .22 rifle target shooting. In addition, campers will learn rural and urban survival skills, water safety, and hands-on defensive techniques to protect against stranger abduction.

Camp registration begins at 8:00 a.m. each day and takes place at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy located on Hwy. 1 South past Flournoy Lucas Road. Transportation is provided by the Sheriff’s Office or you can be responsible for your child’s transportation. Each participant must arrive dressed in appropriate attire. No shorts, sandals, or open-toe shoes are allowed due to the nature of the activities. Only children who are properly dressed will be allowed to participate.

While at camp, your child will spend half their day on the range with the Range Master and instructors and half participating in various presentations on important safety issues. Lunch is not provided by the Sheriff’s Office. It is your responsibility to provide a non-perishable lunch for your child or enough money for lunch to be purchased for them. At the end of the day, certificates will be awarded to all participants.

The Y.F.S.E.C. staff consists of trained law enforcement officers of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office who work in various departments throughout the organization. Each staff member’s job is to provide valuable instruction and monitor the safety of your child in the classroom and on the range.

Age requirement is 10-13.
