The mission of the Special Operations Commander is to provide ready response to situations beyond the capabilities of normally equipped and trained law enforcement agency personnel, to support the CPSO Patrol Division, and to complete special operations as directed by the sheriff and or his designee.
Daily duties and responsibilities: Ensure that the specialty teams of CPSO remain as a force in readiness to accomplish various duties throughout Caddo Parish. Support the day to day operations of specialty units. Secure and maintain necessary equipment that is mission essential for each specialty team. Ensure that each team gains and maintains training and specialized certifications. Ensure documentation of training is filed with the CPSO Training Division. Tasked with assisting all departmental components with police specialized traffic, tactical, and planning services for various events. Stay abreast of current events that may affect Caddo Parish or CPSO. Review after actions reports and briefings to gather “lessons learned”after major events. Prepares all necessary and requested reportsregarding specialty units. Assists in developing, recommending and implementing division goals and objectives. Review and update CPSO policies and procedures for specialized teams under my command. Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities and recommend improvements and modifications. Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies during special events. Perform related duties as assigned. The Special Operations Division is engaged in fair and impartial policing to reduce crime and improve the quality of life of all Caddo Parish citizens.
