Caddo Sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatality crash that occurred just before 8 p.m. last night in the 5100 block of Shreveport-Blanchard Hwy.

Cpl. Ken Davis said a 1988 Chevrolet pickup was traveling north when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Neither of the vehicle's two occupants was wearing a seatblet. Both were transported to University Health after being ejected from the truck.

Richard Richmond, 56, of Logansport, died at the hospital. Rodney Weems, 51, of Shreveport, was treated then booked into Caddo Correctional Center for possession of schedule I and IV.

The crash remains under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit.
