Credit Union employee charged with theft

A credit union employee was arrested by the Caddo Sheriff's Office on Tuesday for manipulating accounts for personal gain.

Elaine Harris Carr, 42, of the 4900 block of General Rusk Drive in Bossier City, was arrested by Caddo Sheriff's Detective Alan Davidson and booked into Caddo Correctional Center for felony theft.

While working for WESLA Federal Credit Union, Carr opened three, unauthorized credit card accounts in her name and her husband's. She then manipulated inactive credit card accounts of other customers to pay on her personal credit card accounts.

Davidson said it's believed Carr's activities began seven years ago - two years after being employed by the credit union. The loss to WESLA so far is $211,000. Davidson said Carr used much of the money to purchase lottery tickets and pay personal bills.
