The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens about a scam claiming to raise money for fallen law enforcement officers, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The caller represents himself as someone from the “Department of Safety” raising money on behalf of officers who have died in the line of duty. Previously reported calls originated from Tennessee.

Prator said you should never donate to solicitation cold calls without checking them out.  High pressure sales tactics and requests to act immediately are usually signs of a scam.

The Sheriff warned that you should never provide banking or personal information to strangers. Contact your local law enforcement agency if you question a caller’s legitimacy.
