Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Shreveport Police Chief Willie Shaw announced the arrests of 10 people during a “buy-bust” operation conducted by the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force.
Agents conducted a short-term investigation Thursday night at areas throughout Shreveport and north Caddo Parish. Arrests were made after suspects sold marijuana, crack cocaine, and prescription drugs in the Highland, North Market, Cherokee Park, Monkhouse, and Southern Avenue areas of Shreveport.
Those arrested and their charges were:
1. Danny Reed, 45, Shreveport, distribution of marijuana;
2. Archie Johnson, 47, Shreveport, distribution of marijuana;
3. Anthony Lindsey, 42, Shreveport, distribution of crack cocaine;
4. Verdina Crichlow, 35, Shreveport, distribution of crack cocaine;
5. Georgia Thomas, 43, Shreveport, distribution of crack cocaine;
6. James Demoss, 24, Plain Dealing, possession of Xanax and possession of Oxycodone;
7. Brandon Martin, 23, Benton, possession of Xanax and possession of Oxycodone;
8. Steven Brown, 49, Shreveport, distribution of marijuana; and
9. Marcus Chatman, 40, Shreveport, possession of powder cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of Xanax, and distribution of methamphetamine.
Chatman distributed meth to undercover agents early during the operation but fled the scene to avoid being arrested. Several hours later, during an unrelated investigation and at different location, agents came into contact with Chatman again. He was then taken into custody and charged in connection with the previous transaction.
The tenth arrest was not drug related, although it occurred at the North Market Street address where agents were conducting an investigation. While there, they witnessed a fight on a balcony. One agent was struck when they intervened in the fight. Jessie Keith, 66, of Pontotoc, Mississippi, was arrested for disturbing the peace, battery on an officer, and resisting arrest.
