Teen arrested after Sheriff's Office pursuit

Caddo sheriff's deputies arrested a teen-ager for unauthorized use this morning after he led deputies on a 20-minute pursuit across Shreveport.

Around 8:30 a.m., Cpl. Mike Lowery attempted to stop Anthony L. Mourning Jr. for speeding on Highway One north of Shreveport. Mourning disregarded Lowery's commands and took sheriff's deputies on a pursuit that finally ended when the car Mourning was in broke down on Pines Road near I-20. He was arrested without incident.

Authorities said Mourning borrowed the Toyota Camry from a friend to go to a nearby fast-food restaurant, but he didn't go to the restaurant and was caught miles away instead.

Mourning, 18, of the 3300 block of Hiawatha in Shreveport, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, no driver's license, aggravated flight, and speeding. He will be booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
