A company bookkeeper was arrested today and charged with stealing over $90,000 from her employer, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Juanita Adams, 44, is accused of using her position at JLM Sartor, Inc., to steal funds from the company between February 2014 and June 2015. Adams cashed checks made payable to herself without the owner’s knowledge or consent. She altered payroll checks to reflect more than she was due and set up ACH payments for her personal bills to be paid from the businesses account, according Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Yomeka Evans, who investigated the case.

Adams came under suspicion when she went into a local bank and attempted to cash an altered check. The teller became suspicious and called the business owner.

Sheriff’s Cpl. Rodney Spikes arrested Adams today at her residence in Mooringsport. She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center charged on one count of felony theft.
