A city police officer who was fired in October was arrested overnight on a warrant for threatening public officials, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Around 6 p.m. Thursday, Caddo Sheriff’s SRT members stopped a truck driven by 45-year-old James Paul Creighton at Kimberly and Shirley Francis in Caddo Parish. Creighton was taken to the CPSO Investigations Office where he was interviewed by Detective Andy Scoggins. He was then booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on a warrant obtained by Scoggins on Wednesday for threatening public officials.

Creighton is accused of threatening SPD administrative personnel and others he believed were responsible for his termination. This occurred in late October.

Creighton was also booked on a charge of illegal use of a weapon for an incident in January when he fired shots at a man in the 8700 block of Weirwood Road after they had a disagreement. The man was not injured.
