CPSO investigating overnight shootings

Caddo Sheriff’s detectives are investigating two incidents involving shots fired in north Caddo Parish overnight, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

At 9:44 p.m., patrol deputies responded to a call in the 300 block of Pecan Street in Vivian where a group of juveniles in a vehicle were fired upon after they drove by and threw rocks at a vehicle parked at that location. Isaavior J. Evans, 23, emerged from the residence where the parked car was located and fired multiple shots at the juveniles’ vehicle. No one was injured but the juveniles’ car was damaged.

Evans was detained by the Sheriff’s Office later that night when he showed up at North Caddo Hospital where a man was being treated for an injury received in a drive-by shooting in Rodessa. Sheriff’s detectives believe the drive-by in Rodessa was in retaliation for the juveniles being shot at in Vivian.

The drive-by call was dispatched at 1:30 a.m. after occupants in a white sedan fired shots at several people who were standing outside a house in the 10000 block of Main Street. Demetrius Owens, 22, of Rodessa, was shot in the chin and was taken to North Caddo Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to University Health.

The Rodessa shooting remains under investigation. Evans was charged with aggravated assault for firing the shots in Vivian. He has been booked into Caddo Correctional Center.
