Suspects arrested for stealing, forging checks

Caddo Sheriff's investigators have charged suspects in two separate cases for stealing and forging someone else's personal checks.

Anthony Claville, 33, of the 3300 block of Milton, is accused of stealing several checks from a family member then forging and cashing the checks at area businesses. He was arrested for forgery by Detective Bobby Herring of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force.

In another case, Herring arrested three women for a similar crime. Herring said Jameisha Jones stole a book of checks from a relative. Jones and her mother, Linda Jones, forged several of the checks, including one for $1,500. They gave the check to a third suspect, Cindy Collins, who attempted to cash it at a bank but was turned away.

Jameisha Jones, 19, and Linda Jones, 47, both of the 3700 block of Ninock, were arrested and charged with principal to forgery. Cindy Collins, 20, of the 2800 block of Murray, was charged with forgery.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said investigators are seeing more cases of personal checks being stolen during burglaries and other crimes.

"When checks are stolen, it causes prolonged problems for the victims," Prator said. "Secure your checks at home just like you would any other important document containing personal information."
