Caddo Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Hwy. 1 North at Northport Drive overnight, according to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, the Caddo Sheriff's Office and Caddo Fire District No. 1 responded to the scene where two vehicles were involved in the crash. Deputies said a 2013 Ford F-250 driven by L.C. Hearne, 62, of Shreveport, was southbound on Hwy. 1 at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and struck a 2005 Ford F-150 on the driver's side. The F-150 was making a left turn onto Hwy 1.

The driver of the F-150 was deceased at the scene. His name has not been released. Hearne, who was not injured, was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for vehicular homicide.

The crash was worked by Sheriff’s Cpl. Jack Anderson and Sheriff’s Cpl. Robert Greer. The Caddo Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash.
