Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator held a Reserve Deputy Graduation Ceremony last night at the Caddo Sheriff’s Re-entry Facility in Shreveport.

The ceremony honored 11 new deputies who are volunteering their service to Caddo Parish but will have much of the same authority as full-time deputies. Each graduate completed 100 hours of training at the Caddo Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy to achieve certification and will be required to work a set number of hours each year they serve as a reserve.

The deputies were presented with their credentials and badges during Wednesday’s ceremony. Graduates of the Reserve Class are Daniel Clayton, Angela Cornelius, Mike Hazel, Daniel Marze, Pat McGauly, Roy Milam, Greg Panos, John Phelan, Al Sanders, Jacob Wood, and Justin Zsimovan.

Prator said reserve deputies assist the Sheriff’s Office by providing extra manpower at great savings to Caddo taxpayers. In 2016, reserves worked 11,707 hours at a savings of $301,572.

“Each of these graduates is to be commended on their community service and volunteerism, and I’m sincerely grateful for the sacrifice they are making for the citizens of our parish,” Prator said.
