Suspect takes on identity of other woman

A Shreveport woman was arrested for identity theft after she stole personal documents to get a job in another woman's name.

Chrystal Rippey, 29, of the 5400 block of Leisure, stole her former roommate's birth certificate, driver's license, and social security card from the victim's residence. Rippey then used the victim's identity to obtain employment and apply for credit and other services without the victim's permission.

Rippey received payroll checks in the victim's name and also forged the victim's name to IRS tax forms. She told investigators she stole the documents because she had a criminal record for prior financial crimes and did not think she could get a job in her own name.

Rippey was booked into Caddo Correctional Center on identity theft and forgery charges following an investigation by Caddo Sheriff's Det. Bobby Herring of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force.
