The Caddo Sheriff's Office is searching for David Alan McAvoy, 46, in connection with the fatal shooting of man at Drift In Landing on Caddo Lake Tuesday night.

Caddo detectives obtained a warrant charging McAvoy with the second-degree murder of Randy Howell, 47, of Mooringsport. Howell stepped outside his trailer shortly after 9 p.m. and was shot once in the torso. A woman at the trailer heard the shot and found Howell's body nearby. He died at the scene.

The shooter fled, but detectives later obtained information that McAvoy was responsible. Caddo SRT members searched a houseboat and the area around Drift In Landing, but McAvoy could not be found.

Detectives said McAvoy and Howell had been involved in a disagreement over the past several days because McAvoy thought Howell had stolen property from him.

McAvoy is a white male, 5'11, 240 lbs., with brown hair, brown eyes, and glasses.His last known address is the 2400 block of Vanceville in Bossier City. He also has a houseboat docked at Drift In Landing.
