Caddo Sheriff to host Hunter Safety Field Day

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will provide two opportunities in October to complete Hunter Safety Education at the Caddo Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy.

Participants can choose either October 6 or 20 to attend Field Day at the Academy, but before attending, students must complete the Home Study Hunter Education Course on-line. The Louisiana Field Day Qualifier Voucher must be printed and presented to the Instructor when attending Field Day.

Each Field Day session will be held from 7 a.m. until noon at the Academy located at 15639 Hwy. 1 South.

Teaching the Louisiana Hunter Education program is a public service offered by the Sheriff's Office in partnership the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The course teaches future hunters about hunting, firearms safety, and ethics. State law requires that anyone born after September 1, 1969, be certified in Hunter Education in order to hunt unaccompanied by an adult certified in Hunter Ed.

To register for the Hunter Education Course or Field Day events visit http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/hunting/hunter-education. Seating is limited.
