A man died after being stabbed during an altercation on North Lakeshore earlier this morning, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 4600 block of North Lakeshore just before 5 a.m. today. They found a woman attempting CPR on a man who was lying on the sidewalk in front of a house.
Patrol Sgt. Mike Christian said deputies were told that the victim and suspect, who were acquainted, were involved in an altercation outside the residence. The victim was stabbed in the upper chest and lower abdomen. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health but later died.
The suspect fled the scene on foot. Deputy Marcus Jeansonne and K-9 Chuck tracked him to a boat in a nearby yard where he was found hiding. He was identified as Austin Boyd, 26, of the 9400 block of Bentwood Drive, Shreveport. Sheriff's Detective Nathan Everett booked Boyd into the Caddo Correctional Center for second-degree murder.
The name of the victim has not been released. The investigation is continuing.
