Women's firearms course features "Shoot/Don't Shoot" scenarios

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office will hold a Women’s Firearms and Critical Decision Making course from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, December 26, at the Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy, 15639 Hwy. 1 South.

This course is designed for women with a basic knowledge of firearms safety and handling and will focus on making “shoot or don’t shoot” decisions. Training will include classroom instruction on Louisiana’s use-of-force laws, Simunition training, use of the department’s Firearms Training Simulator, and live-fire shooting on the Academy firing range where participants will shoot from various positions.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and have prior firearms training. Dress comfortably and bring a handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, and a holster or your method of carry (purses are okay).
