Former Nez Perce County Sheriff Jim Dorion made an appearance in Caddo District Court today following his arrest Monday on a fugitive charge.
Dorion, who is in the custody of the Caddo Parish Sheriff, appeared briefly before Judge Leon Emanuel to discuss his return to Idaho where authorities hold a warrant for his arrest. Dorion refused extradition so Emanuel set a March 31 hearing on the matter. In the meantime, Caddo authorities will seek a Governor's Warrant from the state of Idaho.
Caddo deputies arrested Dorion Monday evening at a residence on Bostwick Road. They were acting on information received from the Idaho State Police.
When deputies arrived at the house, Dorion's wife answered the door. Deputies explained why they were at the house, and Mrs. Dorion summoned her husband to the door. Deputies said the two inquired about the warrant, but were calm about the arrest. It is not known how long they have been in the area.
Dorion is being held at the Caddo Correctional Center.
