Local citizens are being targeted by phone scammers claiming to be law enforcement and demanding money be paid over the phone in lieu of arrest, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
A recent investigation has unveiled a scheme targeting Caddo Parish residents. Phone scammers are calling people in the area claiming to be law enforcement officials and demanding the individuals make payments over the phone, via gift cards, in order to satisfy fines or in lieu of being arrested. Sheriff Prator reminds citizens the Caddo Sheriff’s Office does not take payment for any fines or fees over the phone.
If anyone has questions about possible warrants or fines the information can be found at Caddosheriff.org or by contacting your local law enforcement agency.
