Overnight Storm Claims Life

  An Oil City man lost his life after a tree fell on his home during the storms affecting Caddo Parish overnight, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

  Around 1 A.M. Saturday Morning, Caddo Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to the 300 block of North Kerley St. in Oil City, LA in reference to a large tree that fell on a home during the severe storm impacting the area overnight.  Once on scene, deputies found a large tree fell on the residence of an elderly couple causing devastating damage to the home.  Sadly, the man died at the scene.  His wife was fortunately uninjured. 

  Officers with Oil City PD, Rodessa PD, and members of Caddo Fire Districts 1, 7, and 8 also responded to the scene to assist.  Representatives from the American Red Cross also responded and provided assistance to the elderly woman whose home was destroyed.  Sheriff Prator said he is grateful for all the first responders who served during this dangerous storm.  

  Citizens whose home or business have been affected by this storm are asked to call the Caddo Sheriff’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness at (318) 675-2255 and report their damages as soon as possible.
