New dates announced for Women's Firearms and Personal Safety Class

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator has announced upcoming dates for the women’s personal safety and firearms familiarization course offered by the Caddo Sheriff’s Office.

The course will be taught March 14, April 18, May 16, and June 6, with additional dates announced in the fall. Each class will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Training Academy, 15639 Hwy. 1 South. There is no charge to attend but pre-registration is required. Lunch is not provided.

Participants will learn personal safety and the basics of how to shoot and safely handle a firearm. They will receive individual instruction from POST-certified deputies on the firing range. Ladies are encouraged to bring their own weapon or one will be provided for them.
