The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that left one man dead and a woman injured, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Around 8:40 p.m., Stephanie Denise Jones, 27, of Shreveport, was traveling eastbound in the 5500 block of Jefferson Paige Road when her SUV crossed into the opposing lane of traffic and hit a westbound Suburban head-on. The driver of that vehicle, a 68-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones told deputies that she was fleeing from a vehicle whose occupants fired shots at her SUV in the city. That investigation is being conducted by the Shreveport Police Department.

Jones was taken to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment of her injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
