A Shreveport man is charged with stealing another man's identity and using the false information to commit other crimes, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Allan Murray, 37, stole personal information from the victim and used that information to obtain a driver's license under a false name. While in possession of the fraudulent driver's license, Murray obtained a credit account and two loans in the victim's name.  Murray presented forged pay stubs to obtain the loans.  The total amount of credit obtained was $15,923.  Murray also presented the fraudulent driver's license to a Shreveport police officer during a traffic stop and received a ticket in the victim's name.

Caddo Sheriff's Detective Jeremy Edward obtained an arrest warrant for Murray on charges of identity theft, forgery, resisting an officer, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes. On Friday, Edward took Murray into custody and him booked into the Caddo Correctional Center. No bond has been set.
