Deputy nabs robbery suspect as he flees crime scene

A Shreveport man was captured by a Caddo Sheriff’s deputy just minutes after robbing a woman at gunpoint Tuesday evening, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

K-9 Deputy Justin Dunn was in his patrol vehicle enroute to assist with the execution of a search warrant in Shreveport when he was flagged down by a frantic woman at Alabama Street and Lakeshore Drive. She told Dunn that she and a friend met a man to purchase an X-box when they were robbed at gunpoint. She pointed out the offender to the deputy as he ran from the scene.

Dunn pursued the suspect in his patrol vehicle as he ran across Lakeshore Drive and down Kentucky Street. He caught up with him in an alley where Dunn exited his patrol vehicle along with his K-9 Samos. Dunn ordered the suspect to stop, and he complied.

The offender, who is 17, was booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center on one count of armed robbery with a firearm.
