Caddo deputies assisting in south Louisiana make drug arrests

Caddo Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Louisiana Sheriff’s Task Force have been conducting crime prevention patrols in the Moss Bluff and Iowa communities of Calcasieu Parish following Hurricane Laura.

Around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Deputy Justin Sundquist stopped the driver of a 2000 Toyota for a traffic violation. After a brief investigation Deputy Sundquist seized suspected methamphetamine, suspected synthetic marijuana, scales, and drug paraphernalia. Sundquist and Calcasieu deputies also recovered a large amount of tobacco products believed to have been stolen during a looting incident at a Moss Bluff retailer after Hurricane Laura hit the area.

Destin Reed, 26, of Moss Bluff, was arrested for Possession of Schedule I CDS with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Schedule II CDS with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things.

Hunter Smith, 24, of Moss Bluff was arrested for Possession of Schedule I CDS with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Schedule II CDS with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. Smith also had a warrant for Possession of a Firearm.

The Louisiana Sheriff’s Association has deployed hundreds of deputies from all over the state to southwest Louisiana in support of public safety in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.
