Sheriff Prator invites all to car seat fitting events on Child Passenger Safety Week

SHREVEPORT, La. -  Car crashes are one of the top causes of death among children in our country, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 608 child passengers died in traffic crashes in 2019 – 38 percent of them were unrestrained.

To prevent children from becoming part of a statistic, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office encourages parents and guardians to properly strap children into the right car seat or booster for their age and size.

Citizens can contact Sheriff’s Safety Town at (318) 698-SAFE to schedule a car seat inspection and installation.

All are also invited to attend upcoming car seat safety events at Sheriff’s Safety Town:

  • Saturday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to noon
  • Saturday, Oct. 9, 9 a.m. to noon

For more help on getting the right car seat, citizens can visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website.
