Caddo sheriff’s detectives arrested a man for this week’s armed robbery of the Food Fast Exxon at 5875 North Market Street, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Melvin Johnson, 48, was arrested at a relative’s house in the 6600 block of West Canal on Thursday afternoon by Detectives Jason Morgan and Carl Henderson. Johnson was identified after several people saw video of the robbery that was released to the media by the Sheriff’s Office. 

In the video, a man can be seen entering the store and asking for cigarettes. When the clerk opened the register, the man pulled a handgun from his jacket and grabbed cash from the register. 

The clerk said that after the robbery, the suspect ordered her to the back of the store at gunpoint but was interrupted when a customer came in. The robber then fled from the business.

Johnson is currently being held at Caddo Correctional Center. His bond was set at $100,184.
