Caddo Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a home invasion that occurred just after 3 a.m. today at 1135 Oak Grove Lane in Shreveport.
The homeowner told deputies that he was awakened by someone kicking in the front door of his house. He armed himself with a handgun, and when the suspect appeared at his bedroom door, the homeowner opened fire several times.
The suspect fled the scene. About a half hour later, a man showed up at Willis-Knighton Pierremont with gunshot wounds to both legs. The man was later transferred to LSU Health Sciences Center. Investigators say he is expected to be arrested upon his release from the hospital. Detectives are still investigating whether there are other suspects.
A loaded AK-47 was found laying in threshold of the front door, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
Two other people were in the house at the time of the attempted robbery – a woman and the homeowner’s 17-year-old son. No one living in the home was injured.
