Deputy Rivera, the School Resource Officer from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, was alerted by an assistant principal about a tip concerning a 15-year-old student who had been seen with a weapon on campus. Thanks to the quick actions of Deputy Rivera and the assistant principal, they located the student without incident and found a handgun in his possession.

The student was arrested and taken to the CPSO Detectives' office, where his legal guardian was present while he was read his Miranda rights. After the interview, the student was transferred to the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center, where he was charged with two offenses: illegal possession of a firearm in a gun-free zone and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
