Wanted man arrested for second-degree Battery

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of CPSO investigators, along with the CPSO Warrants Division, CPSO Patrol Division (Team A), and the United States Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force, Jonathan Melton, 33, was located and arrested without incident on the evening of June 6th. He was found at a store in the 3700 block of Greenwood Road in Shreveport, Louisiana. Following his arrest, Melton was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on charges of second-degree battery and held with no bond.

Kudos to the CPSO Investigators, Warrants Division, Patrol, and USMS Task Force for swiftly and successfully removing this criminal from the streets of Caddo Parish! Excellent job!

An arrest warrant has been issued for an individual who severely injured a man at a gas station in south Shreveport, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr. 

The incident took place just after 8 PM on May 28, 2025, at a gas station located in the 1400 block of Hollywood Avenue in Shreveport, LA. The entire event was captured on surveillance video, as seen on our website. 

In the footage, a white male, later identified by investigators as 33-year-old Johnathan B. Melton, adopts an aggressive stance in the victim's blind spot and punches the victim with a closed fist in the face, causing serious facial injuries.

Investigator Matthew Purgerson has obtained an arrest warrant for Johnathan Melton on charges of second-degree battery after the preliminary investigation of the incident. No bond has been established for the arrest warrant.

This incident is part of an ongoing investigation.
