Shreveport Regional Airport will hold a comprehensive emergency disaster drill exercise

Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) will conduct a full-scale emergency disaster drill exercise at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. This drill will simulate an aircraft accident. The Shreveport Airport Authority is partnering with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, along with emergency response providers from Shreveport, Caddo Parish, the Louisiana State Police, and Barksdale Air Force Base. The airport will remain open for normal operations throughout the drill.

The purpose of the exercise is to ensure that first responders across the community have the opportunity to train together in the event of a large-scale incident at the airport. The drill will include a simulated airplane crash, passenger extractions, and patient triage. Furthermore, local hospitals will practice receiving patients during a mass casualty event.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires commercial air service airports to conduct a full-scale exercise every three years to comply with safety regulations. This event aims to test the airport's emergency plans and capabilities for responding to an aircraft accident at SHV. The exercise will be evaluated by officials from the Shreveport Airport Authority (SAA), along with various emergency response providers, focusing on response times, coordination, and other objectives.
