This evening, Caddo Parish Patrol Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality and one person being airlifted to a local hospital, as reported by Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

At 9:13 PM on November 7, deputies responded to a collision involving a white pickup truck and a dark-colored SUV on Interstate 49 near Louisiana Highway 170. They reported that a dark-colored SUV entered the interstate traveling northbound in the southbound lanes and collided head-on with the white pickup truck.

Caddo Fire District 7 arrived at the scene and pronounced the driver of the dark-colored SUV deceased. Meanwhile, the driver of the white truck was airlifted by LifeAir to Ochsner LSU Health at 1501 Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA, with life-threatening injuries.

Deputies are still on the scene investigating the crash. Southbound traffic is being diverted off Interstate 49 onto Louisiana Highway 170 and back onto the interstate while the investigation is ongoing.
