On December 4, 2025, Sgt. Jared Marshall from the Caddo Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit launched an investigation after receiving a report from a concerned family member. This report included video and photographic evidence showing Joseph Thomas Woodall, 36, committing domestic abuse against the victim on two separate occasions in July 2025. At the time of these incidents, three children under the age of 13 were present in the home on Choctaw Lane.

Further investigation involving the children revealed that they witnessed Woodall attacking the victim. Sgt. Marshall spoke with the victim, who confirmed the incidents from July, stating that Woodall had choked her and pulled her to the floor by her hair.

On Friday, December 12, 2025, Sgt. Marshall obtained an arrest warrant for Woodall on the following charges:

- Five counts of Domestic Abuse with Child Endangerment
- One count of Domestic Abuse by Strangulation

On the same day the warrant was issued, Joseph Thomas Woodall was arrested and transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges.
