Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men early Monday morning following the theft of copper wire from utility poles along Barron Road, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

On December 30, 2025, at approximately 2:09 a.m., Corporal Joshua Grimes conducted a traffic stop on Barron Ridge Road after noticing a pickup truck dragging a large cable. The vehicle pulled into a residence on Barron Ridge Road, at which point two male occupants exited the truck and fled on foot.

Corporal Grimes, assisted by Deputy Andrew Culver, apprehended one suspect, later identified as Calvin Ezernack, 46. Further investigation revealed that Dalton Addie, 25, was the passenger in the vehicle, and both had taken copper wire along Barron Road.

A search for Dalton Addie was conducted with the assistance of K9 Deputy Jacob Vaitkus and the Sheriff's Office Drone Team, operated by Deputy Aaron Normand. Dalton Addie was subsequently located at the residence where the vehicle had stopped and was arrested without incident.

The investigation determined that Ezernack and Addie used a sawzall to cut an AT&T aerial cable from several electrical poles along Barron Road. In total, more than 1,400 feet of aerial cable were cut and removed, resulting in an estimated loss of over $16,000 to AT&T.

Both Dalton Addie and Calvin Ezernack were charged with felony theft and possession of tools for a crime. They were transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where they were booked on the aforementioned charges. The investigation is ongoing
