With temperatures expected to drop to dangerously low levels, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is urging residents to take precautions. It provides information on available day and overnight shelters in the Shreveport area.

Cold weather can pose serious health risks, especially to individuals without adequate heating or shelter. The following locations are available to help community members stay warm and safe during extreme cold conditions:

**Available Shelters and Resources**

- **Hope Connections**

  No ID required.

- **Rescue Mission**

  ID required | No sex offenders allowed.

- **Hope House**  
  762 Austen Place | (318) 220-7649  
  Daytime only | No ID required.

- **Winter Weather Shelter**  
  1054 Texas Street | (318) 771-5180  
  Open from 5:00 PM until closing | No ID required.

- **Salvation Army**  
  200 E. Stoner Avenue | (318) 424-3200 ext. 0  
  Must call first | No sex offenders allowed.

- **Highland Center - Community Light House**  
  520 Olive Street | (318) 673-8440  
  Daytime only (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM).  
  Clothing closet open from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM (coats available).

- **Morning Star - Community Light House**  
  5340 Jewella Avenue | (318) 286-5603  
  ID required, but no one will be turned away.  
  Open Sunday and Monday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

**Cold Weather Safety Reminders**
- Dress in layers and protect exposed skin.
- Never light fires indoors or in enclosed areas, as carbon monoxide can be deadly.
- Use caution with space heaters and open flames.
- Alcohol does not keep you warm and increases the risk of hypothermia.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office encourages residents to check on friends, family, neighbors, and people experiencing homelessness during this period of extreme cold.
