Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Warns Public About Dangers of Driving Around Barricades
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is urging drivers to obey all road barricades and warning signs and to refrain from going around barriers set up for public safety.
Barricades are installed to protect drivers from hazardous conditions, such as icy roadways, downed power lines, road damage, active emergency situations, or law enforcement operations. Driving around or moving barricades puts motorists, passengers, first responders, and the public at serious risk.
"Barricades are not suggestions—they are there to save lives," said Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. "When drivers ignore them, they put themselves and others in danger and can hinder emergency and recovery efforts."
The Sheriff's Office also reminds the public that bypassing barricades may lead to citations, fines, or arrest, depending on the circumstances. In addition to legal consequences, motorists may also be held financially responsible for any damage to public property or the costs of emergency response.
Residents are encouraged to slow down, remain alert, and follow all posted signs and instructions from law enforcement and emergency personnel. If a road is barricaded, drivers should turn around and find an alternate route.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office appreciates the community's cooperation and asks everyone to help keep roads safe by obeying all barricades and traffic control devices.
