CPSO Warns of Freezing Temperatures and Icy Road Conditions
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is urging residents to exercise caution as temperatures are expected to drop significantly, potentially creating icy, hazardous road conditions throughout the parish.
As temperatures drop, water on roadways—particularly on bridges and overpasses—may freeze, creating black ice. These conditions can be difficult to detect and may result in dangerous driving situations.
Motorists are encouraged to:
- Reduce speed and allow for extra travel time
- Increase following distance
- Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns
- Stay off the roads if travel is not necessary
Residents should also take precautions to protect their pets, plants, and exposed pipes from freezing temperatures.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office will continue to monitor weather and road conditions and will provide updates as needed. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through local weather reports and official communications from the CPSO on social media.
For emergencies, please dial 911. For non-emergency assistance, contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office at (318) 675-2170.
