CPSO Arrests Dallas Man in Armed Robbery Investigation
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a Dallas man following an armed robbery reported late on January 31, 2026, near Jersey Gold Road, as stated by Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.
Patrol deputies responded to a report of an 18-year-old male who arrived at a nearby residence wearing only his underwear, claiming he had been shot at and robbed. The victim was taken to Willis-Knighton South by the resident, where he received treatment for moderate injuries and was later released.
Investigators report that the victim stated he was given a ride by Traymill Cherry, 32, who is the boyfriend of a family friend. The victim explained that Cherry drove him to a bank ATM and attempted to force him to withdraw money from his account. When the victim informed Cherry that he did not have his bank card, they left the area. Cherry allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded that he remove his clothes to prove he did not have the card. The victim complied, stripping down to his underwear. Cherry then took the victim's phone and attempted to transfer money to himself.
The victim managed to escape by opening the car door and jumping from the moving vehicle. As he fled, he reported hearing a gunshot fired behind him before running to a nearby home for help.
Patrol deputies swiftly located a vehicle matching the victim's description at a residence in the 6200 block of Jersey Gold Road. They located Cherry at the residence and subsequently transported him to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division for questioning.
After further investigation by Detective Matt Purgerson, Cherry was arrested and charged with one count of armed robbery and was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
