The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office marked a milestone Saturday, January 31, by hosting its first-ever Explorer Program Achievement Celebration.

The ceremony was held at 3 p.m. at 1501 Corporate Drive and recognized members of the CPSO Explorer Program for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to learning about law enforcement and public service.

The Explorer Program provides youth with hands-on exposure to law enforcement while emphasizing discipline, teamwork, leadership, and community involvement. Over the past year, Explorers participated in training and activities designed to foster personal growth and an understanding of public service.

Family members, mentors, and CPSO personnel attended the ceremony to support and celebrate the Explorers' accomplishments. Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. served as the guest speaker and shared his own experience as a high school Explorer, noting how the program helped shape his career in law enforcement.

"This is your beginning,” Whitehorn told the Explorers. "It is also the start of a stronger, more connected, and more empowered Caddo Parish."

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office established the Explorer Program to inspire future leaders and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community. The Achievement Celebration is expected to become an annual event that recognizes excellence and encourages continued participation in the program.
