Caddo Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Man in Linwood Avenue Shooting
A Shreveport man was arrested Monday evening following a shooting that left a woman seriously injured, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.
At approximately 6:15 p.m. on February 2, deputies with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a female who had been shot at a convenience store in the 10000 block of Linwood Avenue. Deputies arrived on scene along with Caddo Fire District 6 personnel and located a 34-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a verbal argument that occurred earlier at a residence in the 10000 block of Linwood Avenue. During the argument, Dylan West (white male, 24, allegedly armed himself with a firearm and shot the victim in the head. Despite her injuries, the victim was able to drive herself away from the residence to seek help.
West fled the scene on foot but was located a short time later by deputies in the area and taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center and charged with attempted second-degree murder.
The victim was transported by Fire District 6 to Ochsner Health, 1501 Kings Highway, in Shreveport, for treatment. No update on her condition is available at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
