Regional Law Enforcement offering Disability Decal Initiative

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, along with regional agencies, is offering a Voluntary Disability Decal Program to enhance communication and safety for individuals with special needs. This initiative is a joint effort between the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Bossier City Police Department, Shreveport Police Department, and Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, and is called "Friends of the Community."

The program provides residents with a decal that alerts first responders that an individual in a home or vehicle may have difficulty communicating or understanding directions during an emergency. By providing this visual identifier, the program seeks to foster safer, more informed, and compassionate interactions between law enforcement and the community.

Participants are encouraged to place the decals on the front window of their residence or on the rear driver's side window of their vehicle, where they will be easily visible to first responders.

The decals are provided at no cost, ensuring that all residents who may benefit from the program can access them. All information collected for the decals will remain confidential and will be used solely by first responders during emergency situations.

Residents interested in obtaining a "Friends of the Community" decal can do so through any of the four participating agencies. For those with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, decals are available at any CPSO substation, at Safety Town, or at the Community Relations and Crime Prevention Office, located at 1501 Corporate Drive, Shreveport, LA 71107.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is dedicated to strengthening partnerships, enhancing public safety, and serving all members of the community with dignity and respect.
